Bennett Washington Weaver was born March 4, 1929 during the great Depression - the day Hoover took his seat. During those trying times, he dropped out of school at an early age to help his large family survive. At the age of 19, he returned to school in the sixth grade. Going against the grain never bothered BWW, because his motto was ''Nothing beats a failure but a try'' and try he did and soon thereafter, succeeded with his faith and trust in God. He married Lucile Weaver and they had three children, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren along the way. Together, they worked side by side for 66 years serving others in the community. He loved his people, and worked diligently with other leaders to give Indians a fighting chance. Even though in this life he will fight no more forever, his legacy and determination will live on in the lives of his family, friends, and students that he has touched in a very special way.

Bless be the God of Heaven, when one of the great ones it taken from among us the earth seems to stop for a moment. That is what happened to me as I remember the many great words of wisdom he imparted to me. A great man gone home. With the love of God and ours, we are praying for your family. Charles and Joyce Shipman
  8. Johnny James Weaver, Jr.
A truly remarkable man that was "one of a kind". For those that knew him know exactly what I mean. His presence will be missed but his legacy lives on through so many of us that he touched. Rest In Peace Mr. Weaver for your work here on earth is done. Thank you for living your life as an example for so many to follow.

On a side note, I have a picture in my head of countless angels standing around awaiting Bro. Bennet's arrival. The angel pushing her way to the front of the line would be my mother (Clarice). I'm sure she has filled everyone in on who he is, and what he means to her.

Praying for the entire family, friends and community.
