Freeman Funeral Home

Our History

Freeman Funeral Home was founded in 1928 in Waynesboro, Mississippi by the original owner W. W. Freeman.

Many traditions of Dignified Funeral Services were established and carried on to this day. Harry B. Freeman, son of W. W. Freeman, became licensed in Alabama and Mississippi in 1938 and worked together with his father excluding the years Harry served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On January 5, 1947, Harry Freeman married Mayre Bell and in July of 1947 they moved to Leakesville, Mississippi and opened Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville.

Freeman Funeral Home expanded again in 1967 with purchase of Higgins Mortuary in Citronelle, Alabama.

Serving the people of Southeast Mississippi and Southwest Alabama. W.W. and Harry Freeman expanded the business and it's reputation for Dignified Service until W.W. Freeman's death in 1969. Harry Freeman took over as President and served in that capacity until his death in 2006.

In 2020, Marlon Walley and Mark N. Craddock, longtime devoted managers of Freeman Funeral Home, purchased the business from the Freeman family and continue to instill the Freeman tradition into the quality of services today.
