She was preceded in death by parents, Fred & Effie Henderson, husband, Gordy Averett, son, Jimmy Neese, brother, Fred Henderson, sisters, Audrey Brown and Ethel Jackson, and sons-in-law, Charles Willamor and Johnny Zehner.

Mrs. Averett retired as lunch room manager at Citronelle High School where she devoted 50 years, and drove a school bus. It was her mission in life to feed all souls (human or animal) and she never failed with the willing. She was a faithful member of the Citronelle Methodist Church and enjoyed many friendships. As well, she dutifully served for many years with the Order of Eastern Star and supported numerous charitable causes. She set an example for us all as for decades as she survived numerous battles with integrity, courage and even humor.
Her greatest passion was the love of the Lord and her trust in the Christ Jesus. Her Christian influence was felt by many. She adoringly loved her family and friends and spread smiles and laughter with her sense of humor and positive attitude.
Special thanks are extended to Sharon Strickland and Clarissa Skipper for their loving care during her illness and the many nurses and therapists of Amedisys and Southern Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Citronelle Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10am until 11am with the funeral beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Citronelle Methodist Church.

Saturday, June 5, 2021 I Loved Mrs. Averrett. I enjoyed visiting her (& her sister while she was living with her). I would take my grandsons to visit them also. My son, Grant, liked Mrs. Averrett so much too. I'm so happy he & I had a good visit less than 2 weeks before she passed away. ❣️She talked about her working at Brookly and was so Proud of that. ☺️
