Fred Lacoy Smith, Jr., a resident of Mobile, Alabama, born January 15, 1956, passed away on Friday, June 09, 2022, surrounded by his family. Freddie, age 65, was born and raised in Citronelle, Alabama. He dedicated his life to raising his two boys, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Freddie attended the University of Alabama and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was and will forever be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, his loyalty to his friends, and as an example on how to love unconditionally. He departed this life with faith and knowledge that Jesus Christ is the son of God and his Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy Smith and Betty Smith; and sister, Teresa Smith Weaver. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Fred Lacoy Smith, III, and Robert Evan Smith; his grandchildren, Charlotte Smith, Chloe Smith, and Cayden Smith; his siblings, Denise Smith Mason (Jimmy), Kathi Renee Smith, Cheryl Smith Thomas, and Patti Smith Strickland; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives; and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Monday, June 13, 2022, at Smithtown Baptist Church, with Reverend Marc Hobbs and Donnie Cunningham officiating. Burial at the Smithtown Baptist Church Cemetery will follow the service.

    I was at the funeral but was not able to sign the guest book. I worked with Freddie for many years at DuPont / FMC. Freddie was always the kind of person that would tell you how it was and that was it. A person/friend like Freddie is one you don't find just anywhere. He will greatly be missed here at work and as a friend out of work. Family, I am sorry for you loss and my condolences to you...
