James Edward Hovell

James Edward Hovell, a resident of Calvert, Alabama, passed away Saturday, July 02, 2022, at his home. He was 93 years old. James was a proficient carpenter. He was a painting supervisor, but also restored old furniture. In his spare time, James loved to spend time sitting on the porch and taking care of his family. He enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and loved his Dodge trucks. James was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Blanchie Hovell; and seven siblings. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Marie Hovell; god-son, James Henry Webb; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9am until the 10am funeral service Tuesday, July 05, 2022, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvert Cemetery. Pallbearers include Joey Sticher, Ryan Sticher, Tyler West, David Koger, Shane Walley, and Brian Hovell. Honorary Pallbearers include Bobby Ramey, Charlie Nichols, Carlos Sirven, and James Webb.
